They don't tell the whole story here. They blew the records up with real exploding dynamite between the double header, and the second game had to be cancelled because of the resulting riot. In general the 70s sucked, but now and again you had these brief moments of coolness. :)

Suddenly, I developed the urge to build a model car. It's been years since I've done that, if we don't count the slot car body I carved from balsa last year. Now I wanted to put together a kit, though. Being a picky sort, I hoped for some sort of antique racing car. This week seems to be about cars. They're having this huge hotrod convention downtown. On the one hoof, it's neat getting to see all the hotrods driving about. On the other hoof, it kind of sucks because they're not actually going anywhere - they just want to wander slowly up and down the main streets, causing congestion and changing lanes a lot. Still, it's only for the one weekend.
I saw one tonight that had met his doom on the beltway, evidently in a pretty spectacular fashion judging by the pieces that hadn't yet been cleaned up. I have this idea that now all of his buddies will go down to the maltshop and play 'Deadman's Curve' on the jukebox or something.
