But then...
Jul. 14th, 2006 06:34 amPoisonous mud and gas is erupting from kilometres below the earth and 8,000 people are displaced and hundreds hospitalised on the Indonesian island of Java.
The calamity has been caused by a gas exploration project near Surabaya in East Java that has gone horribly wrong, and for the past six weeks, has unleashed hundreds of tonnes of hot toxic mud.

I had the Cruftmobile's control arms replaced today. The one was apparently damaged when I hit whatever it was that destroyed the wheels and tires a few weeks back. It feels a good deal tighter now, not so astable and light in the front end as it did. In some regards, I liked the feel that it had with the loose/damaged ball joint, although I'm sure it would eventually have destroyed the brakes and tires to drive it too long that way. I can envision my car taking the same course that my main workstation has - in some sense, I still have the same one that I bought from BSR back in 1992. Even though everything has been replaced many times over, I never replaced all the parts at once, so that it always remained the same machine.
Edit: Servicing the suspension did indeed make a difference. I found myself going 75mph this morning without intending to (65 is the limit here). I didn't have anything close to the sensation of speed that I had been having at 60-65 or so. It's a lot tighter and smoother.
