On Saxophone Hill
Mar. 6th, 2007 05:40 amBloomington gets hit with a meteor. This is weird, as one of the Field Museum's prized exhibits is a meteor that took out someone's garage and car in Bloomington in like 1936 or so. It's not that big of a town. Two meteors hitting the same town in under a hundred years must be some sort of record.

The French just break my brain. They're pissed off not because their art's being loaned out to Abu Dhabi, but because the Louvre is charging money (and quite a bit, too) for it. One of the few things they've got that's truly marketable is their culture (or at least the image of their culture), but they don't want to profit from that. It's like they come from a different planet. They'd undoubtedly be appalled at my crass Anglo-Saxonism.

I had a strange dream about the Shuttle last night. From what I can recall it was launched with the SRBs directly attached to the orbiter, which caused it to come apart when it hit dynamic max. Lots of fire and confusion. I'm left with a really vivid memory of that elevator plane thing below the main engines coming free and tumbling through flames. That image has stayed with me.
