Helicopters!
Oct. 24th, 2007 01:53 pmThis is interesting. During the civil war in Sierra Leone, this guy moved his family into the hollow area inside of a bridge, and they lived in there, in a sort of Ann Frankish way.
Like cave walls, the bridge walls are decorated with paintings. This one fascinates me
- we've got a helicopter, a horse, and what might be a mokele-mebembe, or possibly a badly rendered Viking helmet. The helicopter is a very recognizable Sikorsky H5 from the late 1940s. They stopped making those more than 50 years ago. I'm wondering if the artist saw it in a book, or if those are actually still in use in Sierra Leone.
*****
This guy actually built a working helicopter from old car parts. It looks like a pretty good job, honestly. It reminds me of one of the old Bell tether-trainers.

Heli-Perves!
*****
A cleverly designed helicopter detector.

Japanese suicide helicopter! Banzai!
