It looks like Chef has met his doom. I'll have to make a batch of salty chocolate balls in his memory.

A living brain that controls a robot. I love it when life starts to replicate 50s SF movies. The little robot needs a welder or a taser or something, though.

Greg Weld has died. I honestly thought he'd been in more than one Five hundred. He was a mighty sprint car driver, and the last man to try to qualify the fearsome Ferguson/Novi at the Speedway.

Geez Louise, what a blowout in the men's 4x200 swimming relay!

I love the Water Cube. That's a magnificent building. The Chinese seem to be the only ones these days building that type of architecture. Their F1 track has some playful yet imposing structures associated with it as well. I also like that building in Beijing with the two towers that bend over to join at the top.

I keep noticing these Coke coolers in the Olympic buildings. They're the cylinder type with transparent domes on top, the kind that sits there filled with ice and cans. Subtle product placement.

At the gymnastics venue, they have bamboo in pots too, with the stems shaped to form vases, which is pretty neat. Most of the larger Chinese restaurants here sell those plants.
