I'm obscurely comforted to know how old some of my favourite products are. Mexene chili powder, in the little blue and yellow bottle like my grandmother always used (I just made chili tonight, in fact) dates back to at least 1933. Sometime between 1936 and 1950, it stopped being 'chile powder' and became 'chili powder', which is odd.
