Ah-Nold explains, correctly IMHO, why the 'global warming' movement has no chance of success, and what actually needs to be done if we're going to develop and use energy efficient technologies.

I'm reminded of my own experience with the compact fluorescent bulbs some years back. When they were new, and high-tech, and sexy, I replaced every bulb in my house with those. A year or so later, when they were being touted as a sacrifice we all had to make to show our remorse for being richer than the Third World, I smashed all of mine, and went back to incandescents.

They're still a pretty nifty lighting technology, and were they shorn of their political trappings, I might return to them again.

The Congress might finally ban pork barrelling. It's long overdue. It's a minor step, and won't save much money in and of itself, but it's the principle of the thing. We might, finally, have a Congress that's willing to drain the swamp.

So then I wrote to my Congressman:

Congratulations on your well deserved re-election!

I'm writing to urge that you support Joseph Barton for the chairmanship of
the House Energy Committee, and also to request your support for his bill
HR 6144, the Better Use of Light Bulbs Act. I want to be able to choose
for myself what type of light bulb I use, rather than have the government
dictate that to me. It may seem a minor concern, when measured against
all of the problems facing America, but it's these little everyday
'quality of life' things that are responsible for much of the popular
discontent out here. Taking some of these small burdens off our backs
would go a long way in showing us that Congress is trying to make things
better.
