I've watched Rudolph and Frosty many times over, but never really fully considered the implications, especially those of Frosty's hat.

The new World Cup mascot was announced some time back, which I missed at the time. He looks pretty cool, though. Why is it that stuff like the World Cup can have consistently cool mascots (with the unfortunate exception of the Italian one), while the Olympics seem to inspire feats of world-class halfassery in mascot design?
