And so, our guys are going to the World Cup. 2-0 makes it sound a lot closer than it really was. The Mexican team started to look pretty ragged toward the end of the first half, and once we scored in the 50th minute, they just lost cohesion.

It always kind of surprises me to see our team play well and capably. I grew up thinking of us as the underdogs in soccer.

At the Giant Weasel after the game, there were a fair number of morose-looking Mexicans buying beer (there are a lot of hotels nearby) plus a trio of boisterous Americans whose leader was wearing a US flag for a cape :)
