After a 48 hour power outage, even those comparatively lucky Venezuelans who had food in their fridge or freezer no longer have it. I recall back in July of 2012, after we had the big storm, I ended up throwing out the contents of my freezer, and was actually somewhat relieved to have had the decision forced on me, since a lot of that stuff in the back had been in there forever, and I was never gonna use it, but didn't want to "waste" it. I wasn't living in a socialist paradise, though.
