Syrian Civil War Map, which seems a reasonably detailed and reliable source, reports that western news reports that the Syrian army has captured Khan Sheikhun are wrong. Where the BBC gets their information that the fall of Khan Sheikhun will mean that Syria controls the M5 is an absolute mystery. What it will do is to cut off the supply lines to the rebels' southern units in places like Murak and to some extent Kafr Zayta. That cuts away a big chunk out of Idlib, and helps bring the end of the war that much closer. You can see the Syrians working toward that end, concentrating their airpower (which I suspect is largely Russia's airpower, especially that close in against the Turks) on supply and transit chokepoints.
The Syrian Civil War Map itself reminds me of an old Avalon Hill wargame, with the fascinating yet bewildering array of coloured markers.
If the Syrians keep up the pressure, I think it's entirely possible that the rebels will begin to collapse bigly in the southern part of Idlib in the next few days, and perhaps be pocketed. I'm sure we'll see all kinds of 'humanitarian' concerns and calls for cease-fires these coming days.
