So, Congress, in its disfunctionality, couldn't manage to pass even the parts of a relief bill that everyone agreed on, so the mighty POTUS solved the problem with an executive order. Now the people who have used all of their unemployment are safe for a while longer. Also renters are safe from eviction, and mortgage-holders safe from foreclosure. Student loan holders can defer payment, and payroll taxes are cut for those earning under $100k per annum, all of this apparently lasting until the end of the year. I sometimes wonder why we even keep Congress around. They're worse than useless in an emergency.

I saw the interesting suggestion made that given that since so many children are being home-schooled, it would seem a prime time to run a study to see if that gives better results than public schooling. We'll probably never have a better chance.
