I've long considered Florida and the Gulf Coast to be questionable places to live, largely because of the storms and the Alligators. The summer that I was twelve, I spent a few weeks visiting my great-aunt in Fort Lauderdale (Old Lady Capital of the World, even then). What stuck with me from that trip was that I had to check the backyard for Alligators before I could go out. They ate my great-aunt's Ducks, which she had to replace every so often.
