It's always interesting to watch the US Senate. They seem to have more blocking/delaying ability on the plans of a solidly elected head of government than almost anywhere else I can think of.
And I'm not sure why you still ascribe such qualities to the Times. It's no different from any other British newspaper, really. The Telegraph is probably closer to what it used to be.
