I'e just tried Bisto Granules. That's not bad. Not as good as homemade gravy, certainly, but a great thing for when one wants just a little gravy for one's potato.

It was around 75°F here today, a lovely day, and it looks as though the upcoming week will be similar.

That's astounding. Spiders aren't at all social. Some of those clearly look like mothers with babies, but living at that density is so un-spider-like.

Maybe if we can convince them there's flooding they could be farmed at a density sufficient to make bulletproof vests out of their silk.

Yeah, I'd agree with your assessment of Bisto. For true 1970s-British flavour, have it on Smash instant mashed potatoes. For about 30 years (until 2006) they were made by Cadbury's -- yep, that Cadbury's. However, they're best known for their sci-fi themed TV adverts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCsLcWvIbdA), mostly (though not the very first one at that link) featuring the "Smash Martians". =:)
