I never really thought anything about the flags, until I met Findra, and started meeting his British friends. They were all amazed by the numbers of flags constantly on display here. Having a flag hanging in my living room was always a source of amusement for them.
People here did the "billions of tiny flags" thing for Memorial Day, too. I suppose I may next year.
You'd love the Indiana State Fair. Antique Tractors is a judged category there, and there's always a big lot full of them. Twice a day they have a Tractor Parade, which is both antiques and dealers' displays, so you'll see some guy chugging along on an ancient one-cylinder contraption, and right behind him will come some huge machine where the operator sits 20 feet off the ground in a plexiglas bubble.
I forgot to note that the VFW guys were pulled by a Farmall, but I don't know the model.
