All three of the New World species of Flying Skwirl glow bright pink under UV light. Every so often, someone comes up with these strange, fundamental facts that have been there the entire time, had anyone thought to look.
They don't say, but "UV flashlight" make me think of a long-wave UV "scorpion detector". I've got one, and occasionally walk around in the dark trying to see what glows. I've never run across anything nearly so cool, though.

The modern-day ubiquity of video cameras leads to some fascinating things being recorded. I'm sorry that the lady's boat got blown up (it looks like a costly one, moreover), but Geez Louise, what a thing to see.

Pelosi's caught without a mask, in a hair salon that was opened for her particular benefit, while everyone else has to do without. Now she's painting herself as the victim, since the hair stylist didn't help keep her secret.

Now you can get plant-based eggs. Only as a pre-scrambled melange so far, but that will change and improve with time, I'm sure.

Woohoo! Vaccine's coming!

We're ALL on ‘Candid Camera.’

Date: 2020-09-04 03:11 am (UTC)David Drake wrote a story, later expanded into a novel called A Nation Without Walls, wherein by Federal law every location, every room in every building (including toilet), every car interior, every alleyway, everywhere has a surveillance camera covering it. In theory any given individual could be observed 24/7: No matter where he went he’d be on camera. In theory: What made this bearable was that like a store’s security cameras, 99.99% of it was never seen by human eye, but was simply stored until rotated out and dumped - unless it was needed. Crimes get difficult when you’re always on camera. Masks are useless, for the investigator can track backward through the data, following you back in time from camera to camera to before you put it on!
Difficult is merely a challenge to some, though… The main character was just such an investigator, dealing thus with murder mysteries with a very unusual premise!
