Is there nothing so horrifying and creepy that Microsoft will not pursue it with enthusiasm?

So, I went to buy something from Amazon. I know from prior experience that they generally get stuff here before their initial delivery estimate. This time, it was "order before midnight to get it by Feb 1st" (Monday). So I did. My initial confirmation email said it would come on Saturday the 30th. Now, suddenly, they're telling me it will come tomorrow (Friday). I really ought to be pleased at their celerity, I suppose, but I was planning on doing something else tomorrow, and I want to be home to watch out for my package. It's not a huge inconvenience to change my plans, but mildly annoying, still.

I ordered an Apple Magic Mouse 2 and a set of wired earphones for my wife from Apple Sunday or Monday (she got a new laptop from the observatory). Initially the web site said they would arrive Tuesday. I checked the tracking Tuesday and it turned out the mouse was shipping from China, the earphones from Pennsylvania. The tracking said the earphones would arrive before the end of the week, the mouse next week. So much for next day delivery.

I get a delivery notification email while I'm at work yesterday, get home and there's a small package by the door.

It was the mouse.

I wonder sometimes if Amazon puts the first estimate waaaaay out there to revise soon and make it seem like an improvement.

...and wow, yeah.. WILD weirdness with that A.I. proposal!
