Slunkulence
Oct. 3rd, 2007 10:36 pmI bought a string of Halloween lights. They're opaque fairy lights, with some independent blinkers strung in. The independents cause the current to fluctuate, so that the whole string dims and brightens irregularly. I find the effect pleasing. Also, the opaque greens look remarkably like frosted NE2-G tubes, which gives me ideas for projects.

If I had a bunch of those flashing bulbs wired into the supply to a buzzy loud transformer, and had the transformer inside a tuned 60hz resonator, that would sound good 'n ominous! zzZZZzzzZzzZZZ....
The steady-burning lights would flicker in synch to the volume of the 60hz drone, too...

I went to buy a scented candle. I wanted something normal, like pine or cinnamon or bayberry. You can't get a normal candle anymore outside of the overpriced ones from Yankee Candle. The reasonably priced ones are all stuff like "Misty Morning". My theory is that if you give it a name that signifies nothing, then you can dump in whatever scent is cheapest on the spot market that day. I need to make a batch of candles soon.
