Jan. 8th, 2008 09:56 pmMcCain gave an inspiringly warlike victory speech. I like the ominous "We will not be the victims of history..." I'm completely disgusted with the man for his support of Bush's amnesty bill for illegals, but apart from that, I could support him. I was an enthusiastic supporter in 2000. He's liberal on social issues, conservative on fiscal issues, and he wants our enemies dead and thrown on the dung heap.

Woot for Mighty Hillary! She's somehow managed to turn it around. I didn't think she could. It would be a bit of a novelty to have a race between two candidates that I liked.

Giuliani got his ass kicked, unfortunately. I expected him to do better.

I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying this election cycle. I'm not sure why, but I'm having a great time this year. I don't think I've enjoyed one so much since 1968 or so, the first one I was old enough to pay attention to.

I still have my enormous Robert Kennedy button from that election. He came though our town that April, campaigning for the primary. Our teacher told us about it that day at school, and I ran all the way home to get my grandmother to take me downtown to see Kennedy. We ended up sitting on the roof of the porch on the front of my uncle's office. I was bouncing up and down, going nuts (I was seven), and one of the people riding in the convertible with Kennedy pointed at us, and he looked right at us on the roof there and waved :)
