Evan Bayh has announced his retirement from the Senate, one day before the deadline for candidates to file for the Democratic primary. It's really hard to see that as anything but an "Up yours!" to Obama and the DNC. There was no way anyone was going to beat Bayh in November.

One wonders now if he'll run against Obama in 2012? I could enthusiastically support Bayh for President. He was one of the best governors Indiana ever had, a very sensible, centrist sort of fellow.

It's the Beloved Leader's Birthday! If I were an evil dictator, I would *so* order displays of synchronized swimming in February!

I'm left to wonder why they have separate men's and women's curling competitions. It's not a sport where size or strength lend any advantage. On the upside, you get to see more curling this way. I love that *bonk* sound that they make.
