More Vaccine
Feb. 26th, 2021 02:41 pmSo, my primary focus in getting vaccinated now has become avoiding the marginally-effective J&J vaccine, and getting one of the mRNA vaccines, either Pfizer or Moderna. They're saying that they'll begin using the J&J here sometime next week. Reading between the lines, I *think* that what they're planning is to continue using the mRNA vaccines in the traditional settings, and use the J&J vaccines in 'mobile clinics', i.e. vaccination trucks, which can administer 'one and done' shots in ghettoes and homeless encampments, where you can't count on people showing for their followup, but, of course, they're not going to say that forthrightly. Hopefully, it will work out that way.
Interestingly, after having a very relaxed system where they were allowing people from neighboring states to get their shots here, and allowing health departments to serve otherwise-ineligible people with their 'leftover' doses, they came down super-hard on that yesterday. Now it's citizens of Indiana, who are on the 'eligible' list, only. No exceptions. I have to think that there was something more going on behind the scenes.
