So, I got my second dose of Moderna today. It's nice to have a definite end of the affair in sight.

So, if I understand aright, people shot up with Moderna six months ago show no real diminution in resistance today, at least against the original form of the Chinese Doom. The MM are reporting this as "Moderna lasts for six months!", which is true so far as it goes, but...

And, it's Masks Off Day in indiana! I felt somewhat naked walking around the grocery store without a mask, but on the whole, it's a welcome development.

I got my state-issued "vaccination certificate" as well, which is distinctly underwhelming. I expected at least a State Seal (depicts a Buffalo fleeing in terror from a dude with an axe) on it. My CDC record card has an Eagle on it.

Congratulations on the second dose! There is peace of mind being fully vaccinated, but I remain cautious nonetheless.

Yeah, I know. It *did* feel very exciting to walk around without a mask, though. I think the Governor pretty much had to do this to calm people down. I'm fully expecting that in a day or two, it's gonna be "Ya know, a lot of our fellow Hoosiers remain unvaccinated, so for their sake, we perhaps should be careful for a while longer." I'm fine with that. This was a tension-reliever, though.

Congrats on getting your second dose! Me, I'm not taking off my mask until we reach herd immunity level or I'm with a group of friends that I know have been double-vaccinated.

With luck it'll last a full year like a flu shot, or a lifetime like a measles one. If not, then 10 years like a tetanus one would be a nice compromise.

A lifetime would be nice. I'm fairly sure that there'll be some sort of followup for the various mutations that seem to be arising. It seems promising to me that the same mutations keep popping up repeatedly in different populations. Hopefully there are only a few viable mutations that just appear over and over.
