So, now we're having a gas shortage. Last time that happened was when Carter was POTUS, IIRC. Unemployment and inflation are both rising as well, although I've yet to hear anyone use the term "stagflation" to describe it. I think I still have my WIN button somewhere.

I didn't get a WIN button!  It's too bad that Ford didn't have the charisma to beat inflation by just having everyone wear buttons.  His heart was in the right place (inflation is just a state of mind) but he couldn't get the public to believe along with him.

I got mine from a box they had set out at the Post Office. I went with a friend at lunch hour from middle school, and we both scored one. We were pretty much prompted by the fact that it was Age of Buttons, and they were free, rather than by any political or economic convictions. In retrospect, Ford was a much better POTUS than he appeared at the time.
