The digested version: The representative apparently got drunk and molested several women in a hotel lobby, going so far as to chase one around the lobby.
The punchline appears near the end:
"O’Neal is author of “Defense of Marriage Act,” legislation that proposes a referendum on a constitutional amendment that would define a marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
He also introduced a bill in January 2003 limiting the use of incompatibility as a reason for divorce."
Here's a stalwart Defender of Marriage. Yep.

Date: 2004-02-16 07:15 pm (UTC)I'd really enjoy seeing all political candidates running for office interviewed, live, while either being given a Muscovite's monthly vodka, or a pound or two of fine brownies. It's wonderfully easy for a given candidate to shield themselves behind their PR wizard's words, but let their true natures come forth.. that would be worth seeing.
Might need some zookeepers with tranq guns standing by, though.
(Of course, you don't even need to get these people drunk or high to hear their real feelings, as long as they're not going out live to an audience; viz Feed (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104244/) and Spin (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114512/))
