Indeed, some particularly well-expressed points there; love between two (or even more than two) people is irrespective of the nature of their jiggly bits.

One principle that's normally applied, and which isn't being followed here, is reciprocity - a marriage valid in one US state is valid in all of the US; similarly, a heterosexual marriage from another country is considered valid within the US. The INS does not, however, recognise any same-sex partnerships, howsoever legal in the home country.
