Preparing for Ocean City Parade

So, there's a parade this weekend, and tonight the fursuit I'm going to wear (my Otter) is distributed around my apartment, chopped into pieces. For months I've been meaning to change the shape of the head (make it a little flatter, and more musteline) and make the eyes a bit bigger, and somehow there was always something more pressing to do, until finally we got to the point where it's do it this week, or don't have it done in time. It's sad, but a lot of my stuff gets done that way. My suits always appear carefully finished on the outside, but Lord what last-minute kludge jobs they generally are! If I have time I'll probably alter the tail harness too, so the tail will move with my spine better, instead of just being stuck on my butt.

Findra thinks I do cute work :) He's thinking of wearing Amodeo in the Mountain View parade on the 24th, which will be (I think) his first parade in a fursuit. Fortunately it's only a half mile, not like the Ocean City Death March. If it weren't for the tail, I'd think about riding in the boat this year. I'm way out of shape.

Findra's right.

You're a sweetie.

"Ocean City Death March"?

You should try the Sudbury Santa Claus Parade some time. Runs across half the city. Uphill. In November. In between floats pulled by semis, too.

Dammit, I wish I could be with you in NJ this year...

I wish you could be too. I haven't seen you in years, now.

Apart from Mishi, I haven't seen any of my old friends in years. I wish I could do something about it, but it will be months before I'm even able to consider revisiting old haunts and old friends...

Death March?

I once marched...no wait...TWICE marched in the Tournament of Roses parade. Yeah, it was flat, but it was seven miles.

Ocean City is a walk in the park in comparison.

And I was in the Cotton Bowl parade, and in the Disney Bicentennial parade. But I wasn't 40 years old, and I wasn't wearing a fursuit.

You're forty?

Gad, I have been out of touch...

[identity profile] xolo.livejournal.com 2004-04-19 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
And now I'm even older! And now I'm older still!

You're not making it any easier, you know... gad, why did I think that 47 was a good age to start a new, physically demanding job?

(Because I was broke and desperate, that's why... and BTW, I still wouldn't mind finding something in the Colossus of the South, for a whole pile of very personal reasons...)

It's been suggested to me by an ex-employee that TeleTech (http://www.teletech.com) has facilities in both Canada and the Colossus of the South, and is apparently willing to do the paperwork needed to transfer employees from one to the other if they've been with the company for a bit. They've got an office in London, ON.

Teletech

TYK; I knew about them (Mishi worked for them for a bit) but didn't know they were so spread out. I may need to send 'em an application - it's good working at the truss factory, but this morning I woke up with extensive numbness in my leg and shooting pains in my bad knee. I may have over-estimated how much standing I can do after all. :-( Could be I am doomed to nothing but office work now.

Well, we'll see. Other issues to address too...

It's been suggested as well that you might apply to Apple, since you have Apple skills. I know that they have phone tech support, although I don't know if it's inhouse or contracted.

   Apple? Wow, the big leagues...
Might be worth a look. I can get the training manuals online (once I free up some HD space) and bone up on the hardware... been a long time since I thought of doing Mac support again. I miss it...
