Patch_Bunny informs me that (he's pretty sure) 'yuba' means 'large penis' in some obscure Paiute dialect. Thus, Yuba City becomes 'Large Penis City'. Somehow, I can readily imagine this as the name of a frontier town. As Patch almost observed (but stopped himself in time) it takes a hard man to survive on the frontier.

The local Boy Scout HQ apparently has a statue of 'The Unknown Boy Scout' out in front. I'm going to stop to see this later today, I think. The very concept is kind of weird. Was he blown to unidentifiable bits in some freakish camping accident?

Dude, I was joking about the definitin of "Yuba". There is nothing phallic about my town expect for perhaps the water tower, which is pink and smells vaguely of chlorine.

However, I refuse to read anything into this.
