The Unknown Boyscout was a bit of a disappointment. It's a very nice bronze statue from 1937, and actually looks like a boyscout and everything (this is from the age before you could reliably get away with filling a mason jar with stuff from the junk drawer in the kitchen and designating it as a sculpture of a boyscout), but there's no plaque or anything designating it as the 'Unknown Boyscout'. It's just a good quality statue of a boyscout, placed (appropriately enough) in front of the Boy Scout HQ.

One of the 'artists' whose work burned up in the warehouse fire the other day is having a snit because people aren't treating the demise of her irreplaceable masterpiece (a tent with names embroidered on it) with complete seriousness.

The South Koreans seem more than a bit perturbed over the idea that they're going to have to provide their own defense in future. Suddenly their misunderstood communist brothers in the north don't look so friendly anymore.

I love being a geek. Darrel Exline publicly threated Hirtes with death on AFF. Immediately, this sparked a discussion of whether it's better to issue death threats on usenet, or with a skywriting plane. I love being a geek :)
