This, IMHO, is long overdue. I've wanted us to do something like this since I was ten or twelve. The writer makes a straw-man argument that we won't cut off Egypt's aid, so it's an idle threat, but ignores that we actually get something out of our relationship with Egypt. Not so much for countries in equatorial Africa, the Pacific, and so forth, where we give aid, yet get nothing (or worse than nothing) in return. It seems entirely reasonable to me that we control their votes in the UN (and, ideally, when deciding where to hold the Olympics or World's Fair) in return for our largesse.
