rain_gryphonSo, Saturday morning, IIRC, the Eisenhower battle group arrives in the Persian Gulf. Interestingly enough, a minesweeper group is being deployed as well. We'll have to see then whether the Enterprise returns or stays on station.

A tool to analyze policy focus changes. Fun to play with, although I'm a bit nonplussed that they treat "introduced by a Democrat" as a boolean value. There've been a number of independents and third party congressmen since 1946, and surely some of them have introduced legislation. Strom Thurmond comes right to mind. He certainly wasn't known for sitting there quietly.

Oh my. You can get the complete Barenboim version of The Ring now. I've had his recording of Das Rheingold for years, and it's most thoroughly impressive, the moreso for following that bizarre effort by that deranged Frenchman in the 80s. I've never in my life spent $100 on a CD set, but I'm tempted. If anyone just randomly feels like buying me a present... :)
