*snerk* It's like I commented a few weeks back - if there ever existed a party that excelled at self-damage, it would be the Democrats. Had I been the Lord High Democrat, as soon as the Foley thing happened I'd have shipped all my people off on a six week fact-finding mission to Antarctica or something, far away from reporters, telephones, email, etc. Either that, or had them sedated and locked up somewhere.
In actuality, this is unlikely to hurt them very much*, but it's just the stunning inevitability of it that floors me - all the Democrats really had to do was keep their mouths shut for five weeks, and they were golden. I think everyone knew they couldn't. It's like handing retarded people brushes and a couple cans of paint, and telling them not to make a mess.
*People are willing to overlook well-intentioned bungling from Democrats, much as they're willing to overlook testosterone-fuelled barbarism from rugby players or genteel rapacity from Republicans. So long as it stays within reasonable limits, it falls under the rule of "A Leopard and his spots".

I'm unfailingly astonished by how many of the featured sites on "Portal of Evil" are made by people I actually know :)

Yet another reason to like Halloween.

Oy Vey! Victor Glass has quit making Christmas ornaments! Now where will yuppies go to pay $100 for a weird-looking blob of glass? My theory remains, as always, that people buy this stuff just because it's expensive.
