Kangaroo Days
Dec. 14th, 2006 05:41 amI saw this huge fire on the way to work. I'm relieved that no one lived there. I've been vaguely horrified ever since I saw this, imagining people or pets trapped inside, or people losing all their stuff.
The entire apartment block was in flames, with the middle of the roof collapsed, and a column of flame and brightly-lit smoke visible several miles away (it's on a hill). There was still a parade of fire engines arriving when I saw it, about 10:40 or so.

Jim and Tammy-Faye Bakker's kid turned out to be surprisingly emotionally stable and decent-minded. I'd have expected a Satanist or Anarchist, given the household he grew up in.
He turned out a great deal better than I would have done, that's for certain.

So, the guy playing Radames in "Aida" got booed off the stage. Being a thorough glutton for disgrace, he's going for the gold by trying to sue the opera house for letting him be booed.

Regarding ill-behaved students: One of my cow-orkers averrs that when he was in high school, the principal actually had his mother's number on speed dial.

A company is selling Humping Dog USB drives.
Meanwhile, a charity is collecting USB drives for Africa.
Two great ideas that go great together.

Road Kill for Christmas.

Saturday I bought this big carton of frozen hamburger patties, and since then I've had cheeseburgers for every meal. Sometimes I do like that, and just go on a tear eating one food until I get tired of it.
So, tonight when I got to work, a cow-orker offered me a spare cheeseburger that he'd bought but didn't eat. My cheeseburger karma is high.
You get a lot of free food here. Some of the guys will hit the drive-throughs just before they close, and they'll often give you everything they have under the warmers for a couple dollars, to keep from having to toss it.
