So, RSOE Havaria reports Soufriere Hills volcano to be engaged in a major eruption. I went to look at the Montserrat Observatory (which watches this volcano), and it's offline. The plot thickens...

I see where Cisco has bought up Ironport.

The Cambridge News is reporting that the Bassingbourn Dung Sculpture has been cancelled! :(

Let the philistines know what you think of that on the Bassingbourn Bulletin Board.

Someone theorizes that there may be DNA sequences which are inherently incompatible with life. This has all kinds of fascinating implications.

The monitoring service is in Hungary. The volcano in question is in Montserrat. There are, however, a great many presumed extinct volcanoes in Hungary. That whole area is granite and basalt.

The Observatory's back up... currently reporting alert level 4 (out of 5 on the scale (http://www.mvo.ms/Dome__collapse_report_.htm)).

re: the postcard with just a map of the recipient's area: someday we'll just have the URL of Google Maps or the GPS coordinates instead of addresses :-)

We've got the four digit extension to the zip code, which was supposed to target the exact address for delivery. That turned out to be pretty much a waste of time, though, since you're still supposed to write down the human-readable address.
