They're still fighting over Anna Nicole Smith's body. Eventually they'll find themselves wrangling over a skeleton with a pair of silicone tits attached.

That'd be an interesting concept for Halloween, actually...

New from Japan - "Power Puff Girls Z", in which the Power Puff Girls are teenagers. This is so going to produce a tidal wave of hentai.

It's Geezers 2, Punks 0:

60 year old Texas lady takes gun away from robber and shoots him with it. Tragically, he survived.

70 year old ex-Marine breaks robber's neck. Then he went on a cruise :)

Mysterious Japanese vending machines. I love vending machines. It just pleases me to think that there's a machine waiting to sell me something, 24/7.

Actually, I'm thinking in about 100 trillion years, the news story of the day about Anna will be, "Will anyone get her body before the protons in it start to decay???"

I think it's be cool (and appropriately tacky) if they put her in a freezer, then brought her around to the State Fair. It could be one of those tent shows where you pay a dollar to walk by and look in the freezer window at her :)

The real question is, in the cold, would her nipple perk?

Okay, I'm sick...

Wow! A dry ice vending machine!!
I'd find lots of new uses for it if I had one of those machines around here. :-)

Oddly enough, we have one of those here at Meijer's.

I've always wondered why we don't have newspaper vending machines in the UK. I don't believe I've ever seen one.

They're ubiquitous here. They're set in little clusters like this:

about every half block downtown. USA Today (the newspaper for people who find television too complicated) has those neat-looking pedestal types, and everyone else uses generic boxes with hinged doors on the front. You put your money in, open it up, and there's just a stack of papers inside for you to take one off the top. Depending on the company, yesterday's papers will often be in the bottom chamber if anyone still wants one.

You should suggest it to your local paper. The vending boxes are dirt cheap. With all the train and bus riding that's done over there, they'd be money-makers at the stations, I'm sure.

That might be part of the reason: if there's an honesty system which trusts people not to take more than one for their money, then sadly I don't think it would work here. =:(

On a less depressing note, I think another reason is the rise of free newspapers in urban areas - Metro (http://www.metro.co.uk/) being the most popular. (Today's showbiz: Travolta says Scientology could have saved Anna Nicole) (http://www.metro.co.uk/fame/article.html?in_article_id=39173&in_page_id=7) This paper is given away for free on buses and at stations.

That's really sad, given that a stack of newspapers are of no more value to an individual than a single newspaper. But yeah, it's honesty-based. You *could* take more than one, but really it'd be pointless. One's all you can use.

It's not so much people taking more than one to read - it's kids taking one to read and the rest to scatter about for fun. =:S

What keeps them from doing that with the free newspapers at the bus station?

The fact that the paper containers are placed right next to the ticket office! The reason the other newspapers can't put their bins there as well is that Metro has exclusivity agreements in many places.

There was a case in Albany NY many years ago in which the director of the Albany Historical Society was accosted in her house and stabbed in the chest. She pulled the knife out and went after her attacker! The guy ran like the divil was on his heels and she was alright after some medical attention. Tough lady!

I think past of the sentence in cases like that ought to consist of having to wear a sign that tells everyone how some old lady took your weapon away and kicked your ass.
