So. We're more than halfway through the F1 season, and the driver's championship is still wide open. Scott Speed or Christian Albers are technically capable of winning the championship yet. This has been such a strange, remarkable season. I can't recall the last time I saw something so hotly contested by such a large number of drivers. There are four strong contenders, and another two who could plausibly win, given a bit of luck.
After a bit of calculation, the constructor's championship is wide open as well. Spyker is still theoretically capable of taking the cup, although in reality it's down to McLaren and Ferrari.

"My experience has shown that sometimes, if you wait long enough, the weather will change." - Jack Arute, trying to make some sort of intelligent comment on whether the Ganassi racing team was planning for it to rain. Obviously he failed, but it was a noble try.

The Qat doesn't approve of my new kitchen timer. For some reason I never happened to have a kitchen timer. I've always used my stopwatch. My mother finally bought me a very stylish Italian one - it's a rather mysterious-looking metal cube, and you pull a ring out the top to set it. Anyway, I set the thing to ticking, without reading the directions, and without any real idea what time I was setting it for. It soon became obvious that whatever time it was set for, it wasn't 'soon'. I left it alone, and went to do other things. Flaster stayed behind in the kitchen.
It's a good, loud kitchen timer. One could be pardoned for mistaking it for a fire alarm. I jumped. Flaster came streaking out of the kitchen, fur puffed up and belly to the ground, glancing back over his shoulder to make sure that the Grim Qat Reaper wasn't close on his tail. I resisted the impulse to laugh (I knew it would be held against me) and instead went into the kitchen to turn it off, which I'm pretty sure enhanced his opinion of my bravery.
