We know now, for future reference, that we do not light eight sticks of incense and place the holder on the shelf beneath the smoke detector. I can also now be sure that even if I go suddenly deaf in my sleep, Flaster rushing about in a panic will awaken me should the apartment catch fire.

People are stopping to take pictures of the 'Senator Craig' toilets. I prolly would too, to be honest.

I got a pair of Converse All Stars. They're the old-fashioned sort of sneaker, with canvas tops and a thin flat rubber sole. They're way comfortable. When I was little, this is what everyone wore, except that it was generally Keds or Red Balls. I haven't had these since like eighth grade or so, when everyone started wearing the thick, rounded sole 'running shoes'. I always had Kangaroos, with the 'roo logo on the side, and the velcro fasteners :)

When I was about 8 or 9, it was fashionable to draw stuff like swastikas, pistols, skulls, and bloody daggers on the rubber toe cap of one's sneakers. If a kid did that today, of course, the school'd have the police haul him away, certain that they'd narrowly averted a 'tragedy'.

I may draw Kangaroos on my toe caps :)

Converse All Stars

Aren't they the shoes David Tennant wears as Doctor Who? I know they're Converse something-or-others.

Here's what I got (http://www.converse.com/zproductdetails.asp?zcatid=2&zsubcatid=4&zgenid=&leftnavid=1&leftnavsubid=2&sku=M9166). I probably oughtn't to admit it, but the last time I saw "Dr. Who" was sometime in the late 70s, when PBS showed re-runs of ancient B&W shows.

I've been going through old clutter recently, to try and trim it down a little. Among the many things I've come across, are some old drawings of mine from long ago. I never particularly liked school once I got past Kindergarten, and one of the ways I passed the time was to draw a school that was moments away from being hit by bombers and missiles and artillery, and anything else you could think of. Nobody really paid much attention to it back then, as I recall. And yet, I also never went on to actually participate in bombing runs against the school.

I think the current generation of children are going to grow up completely fucked up, since they're pretty well systematically prohibited from expressing and learning to deal with any sort of violent or negative emotions.
