So, Kimi Raikonnen has come back from third, seven points down, to win the championship for Ferrari in the final race. That hasn't happened in my lifetime, not since Giuseppe Farina managed it for Alfa in 1950. He overcame a seventeen point deficit in two races. That's just barely short of impossible. It's always something to know that you're seeing history being made.

This has been a strange season anyway, and one that will be remembered.

I'm wondering whether, when all the analysis is finished, it will be found that Hamilton's offtrack adventure at Under the Rabbit caused his subsequent gearbox problems.

*****

Ultimately I'm thankful that it was a safe season. If Wurz had braked a tenth of a second later at Melbourne, I have no doubt at all that he'd have been decapitated. Kubica's crash at Montreal simply wouldn't have been survivable ten years ago. It never fails to amaze me what modern drivers can walk away from. The car designs aren't nearly as exciting as they used to be, but it's nice to be able to watch and not see people get killed.

*****

I bought Flaster some 'Aristocats' Qat food. The stuff smells like a dead fish that's been lying out for several days, way stinkier than normal Qat food, but that seems to work for him. He cleans his bowl, which he doesn't with Fancy Feast. The cans have pictures of the Aristocats characters on them :)

*****

I loved the Mylar confetti launchers at Interlagos, even if they maybe got a bit carried away (the people were almost completely hidden by confetti at one point). I need to look into getting something like those for the Ursa Major Awards ceremony.

*****

I've got a Little Green Machine hot water extractor for my carpet that I've had for seven or eight years. It cleans nicely, but I hesitate to use as much as I'd like, since it's shatteringly loud. A few hours ago I discovered by accident that the high pitched sound that I thought was the fan blade tips breaking the speed of sound is really coming from the case vibrating. If I press on it just so, it damps down, and I'm left with a still extremely loud, but much lower-pitched howl, which is way more bearable. I may open up the case and see what I can find.

Oddly, that model seems to be still sold in the UK, but has been replaced in the States by an entirely different device, still called 'Little Green Machine'.

*****

I was making spaghetti sauce yesterday, and while getting tomato paste out of the cabinet I discovered that I had a forgotten bottle of capers, which nicely set off the sweet red peppers. Serendipity rules.

*****

I bought the "Surf's Up" DVD, which I may watch in a bit. It's worth seeing, if you haven't. "He's a big dirty trash can full of poop!" has become one of my favourite opprobrious descriptions.

Has there ever been a season that was completely normal in every way?  If so, and it was not remembered, how could you name it in your answer?

I used to have an LGM, but I replaced it with a self-heating Bisell.  Perhaps they decided to sell a different model in the States after receiving too many consumer complaints about the use of pot metal for the motor casing?  I'm afraid your vibration problem will continue to worsen.

67% of all seasons are normal. You should know that. By any measure, though, this has been a weird season.

Oy vey! I had no idea. We'll have to see what JB Weld (http://jbweld.net/products/jbweld.php) will do.

Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of household appliances? The Pyesetz knows! Bwahahah....

And which one did you get, and how well do you like it?
