So, McCain has won in Florida. That pretty much puts paid to Giuliani. If he quits and supports McCain (as is expected) then it will probably come to an end next Tuesday.

That halfwitted hillbilly conman Huckabee finished fourth. One hopes he'll just quit gracefully.

And Giuliani gives up, live on TV. And no, he doesn't. He gave this weird speech where he thanked all of his supporters, and said how proud he was of his volunteers and staff, and basically spoke of his campaign in the past tense, but didn't resign yet. I kept waiting for it, but it never came. This is a campaign in its last few days, though. It's a shame, too. I think I'd have enjoyed him as President.

It's 50F right now. It feels like a windy March night. By dawn, it should drop to 10F. This is what can happen when you live in the middle of a large continent.

Those scoundrels in the ACLU want to stop us using paper ballots.

Those scoundrels in the ACLU want to stop us using paper ballots.

The article says "if it switches to a paper ballot system that does not allow voters to correct errors". That's easy enough, surely? What happens here is that if you accidentally spoil your paper, you show it to the electoral officer, who then issues you with a new, blank one. What sort of paper ballot system wouldn't allow that?

You're making the common error of thinking that the ACLU has an actual goal beyond causing trouble.

Did you read my post (http://community.livejournal.com/roller_critters/36179.html) in roller_critters (http://community.livejournal.com/roller_critters/36179.html)? Believe me, I lived here when Giuliani was Mayor, I cringed at the thought of him becoming President...he's as arrogant as Bush.

On the whole, I'd rather not have historic structures knocked down, but then again, I'd far rather see arrogance than circumspection in a Chief Executive. The Congress and courts are there to act as a drag brake on the President. It's worth having him break something every so often to get an aggressive President.

They hate electronic ballots, now they hate paper ballots. Should we just throw colored stones in a bucket to cast a vote or what?

If McCain wins the primary, I will be voting for the Easter Bunny.

I rather like McCain, apart from his amnesty plan. I think he's been hammered badly enough on that that he'll leave it alone, plus he has no more chance of passing it than Bush did anyway.
