ZOMG! Obama's uncle fought for the Soviets!!!

Obama: "I had an uncle who was one of the -- who was part of the first
American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps.
And the story in our family was is that when he came home, he just went up
into the attic and he didn't leave the house for six months. Right, now,
obviously, something had really affected him deeply. But at that time,
there just weren't the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through
that kind of pain." (Sen. Barack Obama, Remarks On Memorial Day,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV1sxq8mqvA, Las Cruces, N.M., 5/26/08)

Historical Fact:

According To The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Auschwitz Was
Liberated By The Red Army On January 27, 1945. "On January 27, 1945, Soviet
troops liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp complex, where they
discovered some 7,000 prisoners, including young children, who had not been
evacuated by the SS." (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Web Site,

ZOMG! Obama sees dead people!!!

"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes - and I see many of them in the audience here today - our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."

The man's as bad as Reagan, and lacks the excuse of senility.

(link) Obama's campaign clarified the comments about the candidate's great-uncle liberating Auschwitz, saying Obama was "mistaken," and was referring to Buchenwald, not Auschwitz.

Perhaps he was having a "junior moment"?

The man's as bad as Reagan, and lacks the excuse of senility.
I thought Reagan had substantially all his marbles when he first ran for office.  He wanted to be president so he could WIN THE COLD WAR.  Nothing else mattered to him: not truth, not fairness, not the lot of the common man, just winning that damn war.  Obama, by comparison, seems rather coy about why he wants the job.

I think Reagan was in the early stages of senility in '80. At the time, though, he tended to listen to Regan, Meese and Nancy when they told him what to say, and he was a capable actor who'd spent decades learning how to play a trustworthy, low-key sort of character, so it didn't show that much. I honestly believe tha man had no real agenda at all - he was just a mouthpiece for his handlers.

I frankly haven't a clue what (if anything) Obama believes in. That's one of the reasons I don't trust him.

McCain's had some pretty hard gaffes (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/19/mccain-repeats-iranal-qa_n_92349.html) too.

I don't know what Obama's excuse is, and I'm certainly not going to make one up, but what's McCain's excuse? If it is senility, which I consider to be a legitimate excuse for a senior but not for a president, then maybe electing someone who should be retired now let alone 4 or 8 years hence is a mistake that shouldn't be repeated?

McCain remains a better bet for a sane, capable Preident than Obama, regardless.
