Oh, yes! They have some kind of new asparagus at the store, which has huge, oversized spears, but is nonetheless tender and very flavorful. GM plant, I strongly suspect. I marinated some in nuoc namh sauce, steamed it, then smothered it in white parsley sauce. HM the Queen didn't dine as well as I did tonight!

There were two asparagus beds on the property when my parents bought it in 1967. Both produced heavily... until my dad killed them off accidentally with constant mowing. I tried planting new crowns there in the late 70’s but they didn’t take.

Now you have me planning a bed of our own! No one else here eats it so it would only be a few crowns.
