It's speculated that the Serbian water polo team may have thrown their qualifier against Italy to get into the bracket against the US, who were supposed to be the sacrifical victims. Our guys just destroyed them, 10 points to 5.

*****

I'm always bemused by the guys who measure where the javelins and hammers land. I wonder if any of them have ever been brained or skewered?

Only the very stupid judges.

Apparently it actually has happened. I'm sure it's the kind of thing you never hear the end of, if you survive.

It's turning out to be an Olympic run with a serious side of schadenfreude.

I am still grinning about the men's 4x100m freestyle results, and now I can laugh at Serbian skullduggery gone wrong.

Check YouTube, if you dare. *shudder*

I remember specifically seeing once (I'd be surprised if the video were not amongst all the YouTube carnage) where a javelin judge who just got skewered in the upper arm had the presence of mind to try to hold still long enough for the distance of the throw to be measured. Have to admire the dedication, there.

I'd kind of been envisioning a more cartoon-like outcome :P

I hope they gave that guy some kind of special prize for dedicated judging, yeah.

I hope none of the water polo ponies on either side drowned, anyway.

I was thinking the other day how cool it'd be if they had Horse Diving as a sport, like the Horses that used to dive off the tower in Atlantic City.
