Oddly enough, The Road to Serfdom fills me with nostalgia. It was written in a more rational age. The author couldn't have imagined a time when people would think it desirable for the government to dictate such details of their lives as which light bulbs they could use, or how much water their toilet tanks could hold; while at the same time fighting tooth and nail to strip the government of any capacity to defend againt external enemies.
