Watching the Hitler Channel
The Hitler Channel disappoints me again. They're talking about the Autobahns, and they devoted a brief segment to the speed test where Bernd Rosemeyer was killed. When they were talking about Caracciola, they showed footage of Rosemeyer in his Auto-Union. When they talked about Rosemeyer, they showed Caracciola being pushed off in his Mercedes.
They do stuff like this a lot. It's annoying, the moreso that they had footage of both drivers in the correct cars, so they didn't have to substitute something close just so they'd have footage, as sometimes happens. An elementary effort at research would have told the film archivists who was who.
This bothers me more the longer I think on it. They're supposed to be an educational channel. Everyone's going to get stuff wrong now and again, but this was something that's just so dead easy to get right. It makes me wonder how much misinformation is on there that I don't notice?

Someone has devoted a fair amount of time to analyzing the Rosemeyer disaster. He comes to some rather harsh conclusions, that I'm not sure are really warranted.
