Lasagna Creatore
Jan. 5th, 2012 09:12 pmFrom the Comics Reading Library, Forbidden Worlds, from March of 1956. The leadoff story, Mr. Miggs from Mercury, is goofily cute in that kind of a way that The Twilight Zone could sometimes be. It's a pity they don't list the writer.
*****
I made vegetable lasagna tonight. Matchstick carrots, and ripe, ripe peppers, and tomatoes that would have been begun to rot had I ripened them one more day, all blended with about five kinds of cheese, oregano and garlic. It was magnificent. It was a sloppy, badly-constructed lasagna, but one of the best-tasting I've ever had. The carrots give it an odd subdued sweetness, almost like sage, and stayed slightly crunchy even after sweating and baking. I'll try it this way again sometime.
I shall name it Lasagna Creatore, after Giuseppe Creatore.
