Pope Sign!

So, the new pope is to be Pope Francis. That's an unexpected and hopeful name, as St. Francis was known for his love of all creatures. I do hope the name indicates truly how he hopes to go on as pope. We'll see how this works out.

Edit: My friend Matt from work is very happy to see a new Pope. He's Catholic, and had been in the process of getting his first marriage annulled so that he could remarry. Apparently an annulment requires the personal approval of the Pope himself, so Benedict's retirement had put a clog in the works. Now he'll be one of the first people in the world to get Pope Francis' seal.

When he was elected Cardinal, hundreds of Argentinians planned on buying plane tickets to Rome so they could celebrate with him. He talked them all into giving the money they would have spent on the tickets to the poor instead. He also took the bus, cooked his owne meals, etc., and lived like an ordinary person. He has a strong commitment to the poor.
