Even as a child I saw echoes of the Nazis and Kristallnacht in "Five Million Years to Earth", when the Martian God stands over London, and drives people to kill everyone who's different from themselves. That was perhaps more deliberate than I'd suspected.

A world-shaking ruling, and one which has gone largely unremarked in the press. The judge's ground ("It is DECLARED that 26 U.S.C. ยง 107(2) violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.") is going to be pretty hard to patch over or work around, for all that I'm sure congress will try.

I've given up on the default Android browser (called 'Internet', as best I can tell - it seems to be a flavour of FireFox) for my tablet, and installed Dolphin instead. I've traded off an irksome inability to make my browser consistently present itself as a desktop instead of an Android mobile for a weird system of bookmarking. On the whole, I think I'm ahead. Once I initially set my bookmarks, that becomes an unusual activity. With the default browser, even if I set the user agent in debug mode, it would still keep going back to mobile mode if I opened a new tab, quite an unwelcome behaviour since I paid good money for a tablet with a big screen, and want things to present in desktop mode.
Also, this has a neat Dolphin logo.
