Snails the Size of Time

First month grow, second month grow, third month grow, fourth month grow, fifth month . . . mmmm, stop," commanded Prophet Makandiwa as he performed miracle penis enlargement.

One of the things that's coming to annoy me of late is the prices of some books on Kindle. Most are pretty fair and reasonable, but there seems to be something of a practice of pricing academic books at levels that approximate hardcopy prices. E.g., just a bit earlier I was looking at a history of post-colonial Nigeria*. They want $70 for that.
Now I can readily understand that academic and special-interest books are going to be pricey in hardcopy, and I have no issues with that - that's just common sense. What on earth is the deal with charging that much for an ebook, though? Do they believe that titles like that simply aren't marketable unless a professor assigns them, so they want to protect hardcopy sales instead of making them buyer-friendly?
*Trying to sate my curiousity online led me to the penis enlargement prophet, FWIW...
