So, it seems to have been dessicant left in the fuel tanks that made the Antares' pumps sieze up. Some truly dramatic video of the debacle here as well, from several different angles.

The Integratron. Someday soon, I need to go to Giant Rock and see this. The whole 1950s UFO contactee thing is becoming fascinating to me again.

An astonishing 45% of Democrats still believe Obama to be a Christian. Independents and Republicans, not so much.

Friend to Crows. They're such wonderful birds anyway.

I love crows, yes! My great-grandfather had a partially-tame crow that would come ride on his shoulder sometimes.

That's really interesting. I've been feeding the same family of crows here for going on 15 years. The old grandmother is the only one left of the original pair now. She's real easy to identify. She has several wild plumes of grey feathers sticking out from various places, and she's had a cough for the past few years, too. The first batch of kids got exiled down the street, but, the last group of three, the old mother let them stay. I think she recognizes she needs her offspring around now that her mate is dead. Both groups still remain mostly separate, though sometimes they do mob together to swoop at members of the raven family who stray into the neighbourhood.

Anyway, I feed the crows a half cup of Shadows dry dog food almost every day, and scraps of old bread, too. They can see me from very far off. As soon as I come out my door, or I let Shadow out, I hear them give the call, and they come down and perch on the wires in front of my house. I haven't noticed any 'gifts' per se, but I have from time to time seen odd objects on my driveway. I've always just assumed they were tossed onto it by kids passing by, but I never considered it might be the crows. I'll have to keep better track of these occurrences in the future.

It may well be the crows. They're smart enough and social enough that the idea of giving presents to keep a desirable relationship going is one that would occur to them.

I used to feed crows when I worked at the Middletown Meijer back in the mid 90's. I would eat my hamburger in the car while listening to music and toss bits of meat and bun to the crows who would gather around :D

I feed the local crow family sometimes during lumch at work. They're sort of relaxed around me, but not entirely. I think if I fed them every day, they'd be a lot more mellow.
