Am I Very Wrong?

I live in a country where people think it's important to control how someone else sits on a couch. Seriously. As many problems as we have, and this^1 is what a certain portion of the country thinks is a pressing issue. It's no wonder things got as fucked up as they did.

^1 And, of course, the all-important "best movie" awards. Musn't forget those.

The celebrated Giant Geiger Counter of Ooty! It seems odd to me that the elements would be installed horizontally rather than vertically, but I suppose if the array is large enough, it will still be directional.

The next building over but one just had their transformer explode as I was typing. Despite the fact that there's a building blocking my direct line of sight, the reflected flash still lit up my windows. These apartments, like a microcosm of America, have just been falling apart these past few years. I keep saying I'm going to move, and I never do.

Snopes says that Conway was preparing to take a photo with her phone; she was not surfing the web while ignoring the room full of Black dignitaries as it seemed.  Still, there is another photo showing her taking her shot while her pumps are in contact with the back of the (presumably expensive) couch.

But yes, you live in a country where male people think they have the right to tell female people how to sit (e.g., with an Aspirin pill between their knees).  *And* there are many the awards shows for "best movie".

It's cute that the Mangalyaan spacecraft from Ooty cost less than the movie Gravity.  But cutting costs by requiring engineers to work 18-20 days... well I just can't do that anymore.

More and more, American towns are digging up their asphalt and replacing it with gravel which is cheaper to maintain.  Back in the 1950's, Americans were told that they had the highest standard of living in the world because their Capitalist Ideology was the best (actually it was because they had nukes).  These days, Germans simply elect not to notice that their country is falling to pieces.  "Oh, the shopping mall has very few tenants?  I just hadn't noticed!"  Things will probably get much worse before they start to get better.

Trumps speech last night was well received!  The stock-market indices are at all-time highs today!  This might be a good time to sell.  There's only so much that Donald can do about the world's emotional problems.
